INTRODUCING PARIS: We meet our professional Paris guide and board our private minibus for a 4-hour familiarisation tour of the city’s principal landmarks. During the following days we shall explore the city in greater depth.

Accompany Hugh and Jo for a walk along the magical Promenade Plantée, the world’s first elevated green walkway.

Day 3 - SUNDAY MAY 13
Morning
Stroll through the narrow, winding streets of the Latin Quarter, site of the Sorbonne founded in 1253. Continue along the grand Boulevard St Germain to the Musée de Cluny, home of France’s foremost collection of medieval art, including the famed Licorne tapestries.
LUNCH in a selected restaurant in the district.

Visit Les Jardins du Luxembourg.

Day 4 - MONDAY MAY 14
Morning
Medieval Paris guided walking tour.

Visit the Hôtel Biron, an 18th century mansion now home to the Musée Rodin.

Escorted walking tour of the historic Marais area, home to French royalty and aristocracy dating from the mid-16th century.

Visit, by minibus, to the exquisite house and gardens of Château de Vaux-le- Vicomte, precursor to Louis XIV’s Château de Versailles.

Guided discovery walking tour of the mid-19th century reinvention of Paris by Baron Haussmann, under the auspices of Napoléon III.

An escorted tour of the famed food market, Marché l’Aligre.
